Analysis of international regulations and standards

Thanks to their involvement in the various standardization committees of AFNOR, CENELEC, and IEC, PISÉO experts participate in the drafting of standards and analysis of international regulations and standards. They thus have in-depth and exhaustive knowledge of this field.

Compliance with standards constitutes a solid basis for ensuring product compliance with the requirements of various international regulations and is an essential prerequisite for marketing products.

Designers, manufacturers, and marketers of products with high optical content can rely on PISÉO to guarantee the conformity of the devices they develop and market.

Regulations and standards compliance

With their experience in the design and development of optical-photonic systems  and their ISO 17025 accredited laboratory (scope available on www.cofrac.fr), PISÉO experts can advise you on the standards that apply to you and carry out the corresponding tests.

In the medical field, for example, PISÉO regularly supports customers to demonstrate the compliance of products (endoscopes, AR/VR systems) with the requirements of the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) in the USA. This support involves analyzing the requirements, proposing an optical performance and safety test protocol, and conducting the tests in our accredited laboratory. At the end of the tests, customers are provided with independent and impartial reports recognized by the FDA.

Product performance

The energy transition requires unprecedented improvement in product performance, and regulations in this area are becoming increasingly restrictive. This is particularly true for lighting, where there are European regulations on eco-design and product marking relating to performance ((EU) 2019/2015 and (EU) 2019/2020), as well as numerous harmonized standards (IEC 62722-1, IEC 62722-1, IEC 62031, etc.).

In the field, PISÉO experts participate in the work of the AFNOR UF 34 commission.

Optical product safety

Products producing light radiation are subject to optical safety regulations, including, but not restricted to, eye safety. LED or LASER-type light sources that emit UV, visible, or IR can, depending on their characteristics (spectrum, power, density), have a deleterious effect on users (see our article on this subject: Risks optics).
PISÉO experts are particularly committed to the prevention of optical risks. They participate in the work of the AFNOR UF76 standardization commission and the National Commission for Optical and LASER Safety (ConSOL) under the aegis of Photonics France.

PISÉO thus ensures the optical safety of photobiological and LASER risk tests carried out within their laboratory and can advise you on determining the optical risk group of your lighting systems, as well as the class of your LASER.

Drawing on this expertise and their technical resources, PISÉO experts can also define and implement solutions to prevent user exposure to optical risks. This concerns the products and optical test benches developed by PISÉO, as well as risky situations on customer sites.

Like our many satisfied customers, you can trust the regulatory and normative analyses of PISÉO experts to ensure that your products comply with current international norms and standards.
